Planting Instructions: These perennial tubers should be planted in full sun to partial shade. Plant 3-4” apart and 2” deep in well draining soil. Sandersonia tubers are spring planting, mid-summer blooming, and require winter-time chilling to break dormancy. In well draining soil, tubers are hardy to zone 7 if unprotected and may be hardy to zone 6 if well protected by shelter and mulch. In colder zones, use as a patio plant or lift and store for winter. Fertilize moderately. Good drainage and plenty of light are the keys to good growth and lots of flowers. Store in moist peat moss or soil in cool room until spring planting--it is important tubers do not dry out.
