Cut Flowers/Ordering

Q. How do I force my large white callas to open?

A. If you have 2-3 days before the event, simply leave them at room temperature out of direct sunlight. If you need them to open as quickly as possible, recut the stems into warm/tepid water. Colored callas are shipped fully opened.

Q. What flowers are shipped in the mixture?

A. The mixed colored range is the best mix of flower colors that are coming out of the field that day. We cannot guarantee any particular color, however, if there is a color you do not want, you can specify that at checkout and we will not include that color. We guarantee you a mix of 3-4 colors.

Q. On your website the season for calla lilies has just ended, is there any chance that you still have calla lilies available?

A. Yes, there is a chance that we may have the colors you’re looking for. It is important to call us for more information on color availability.

Q. What is the difference between Standard and Premium?

A. In “Large White Callas” standards are 16-26 inches tall and premiums are greater than 26 inches (averaging 34 inches)

Colored calla lily standard calla lilies are 8–16 inches tall and premiums are 16-24 inches tall. Our hydrangeas average 6-8 in diameter, however, may vary from 4 16 inches in diameter. The average stem length of our hydrangeas are 12-16 inches.

Q. Can I purchase just one stem?

A. Sorry but no. In an effort to save you money, we offer sample/gift packs. The cost of shipping one single stem would be the same as shipping one bunch of ten stems.

Q. Can I include a note or greeting with my order?

A. Yes, you can place a short note or greeting in the message line when you place your order online or let our salesperson help you when you call.

Q. How do I know how many flowers to order?

A. Once you have decided on a budget amount, you can generally calculate 10% toward flowers. You may want 15-23 stems per table arrangement or bridesmaid bouquets. Nine to eleven stems work nicely for a small bouquet for the moms or a flower girl in the bridal party. Twenty-one to twenty-five stems are a nice amount for the bridal bouquet as well as for any larger arrangements. A boutonniere is generally 1-3 stems, corsages are 3-5 blooms.

Q. Can your flowers be used on a cake?

A. Yes, flowers can be used on a cake. However, some bakers will place a sheet of cellophane under the flowers. This technique protects anyone that may be allergic to the flowers you choose. Also, a good idea would be to wrap the stems to prevent moisture from seeping onto the cake.

Q. Should I store my flowers in the refrigerator?

A. Never store flowers in a refrigerator, but rather store and process them in a cool location out of direct sunlight. Never place flowers in the same room or cooler with fruits or vegetables as they produce ethylene gas which could damage your flowers.

Bulbs / Tubers

Q. Can I grow calla lilies or sandersonia bulbs in pots?

A. All of our bulbs perform very well in pots and depending on their hardiness, the pot may need to be protected against freezing.
return to top

Q. What is the difference between a tuber and bulb?

A. Tubers and bulbs are both swollen underground plant stems. They both are planted in the ground and will produce plants. Whether you choose to use the term tuber or bulb is your preference.

Q. My calla lily plants have a lot of leaves and no flowers. What am I doing wrong?

A. There are 2 main reasons calla lilies do not bloom well. Firstly, they do best in full sunlight. Secondly, they may be planted too deep. They like to be just 2-3 inches below the soil surface. If deeper, they may not bloom.

Q. How many flowers can I expect from my calla lily bulbs the first year.

A. Depending on the variety, you should expect 1-3 flowers the first summer on your colored calla lilies. Although the large white calla lilies are the largest and most prolific of all the calla lilies, they generally do not bloom the first year.

Shipping
Q. Do you ship out of the United States?

A. We do not ship our flowers outside of the United States since we are not able to guarantee delivery times due to customers entry, etc. We do, however, export our calla lily bulbs internationally with a minimum order of $250 and an additonal phytosanitary fee of $30.

Q. Why does shipping cost so much?

A. Our shipping cost is based on the rate guide set by FedEx and UPS. You are actually saving money by having your flowers delivered directly to you from our farm. By shipping directly to you, we are able to cut out all the middlemen and pass the freshness and the savings onto you. We must harvest, process, and hydrate your flowers in order that they are 100% fresh and arrive to you in pristine condition.

Q. How do you ship the flowers?

A. We ship summer blooming colored callas FedEx standard overnight and our winter blooming white callas are shipped Fed Ex 2nd day delivery. Our normal delivery schedule is Tuesday through Friday. For Saturday delivery there is an additional FedEx charge. Flowers cannot be delivered on Sunday or Monday.

Q. How do you ship tubers and bulbs?

A. We ship UPS ground transportation. Delivery generally takes a week across country.
return to top

Q. What guarantee do you offer that I will get what I ordered?

A. We sell flowers only by color categories. We only guarantee that you will receive one of the varieties within the color range category(s) you choose. Throughout a production season, there are natural variations in color and variety production. Therefore, the color sample you ordered in July may be darker in August or September.

Q. What happens if my flowers are damaged when I receive them?

A. It is your responsibility to inspect all products when received. Any damage must be reported to FlowersBulbs.Com within 24 hours of receipt of merchandise. No claims will be accepted after that time. If your request is for a refund from FlowersBulbs.com due to flower damage, you may receive a refund of the product(s) purchased, not to include shipping cost.
